How To Plan Your Next Trip
Ever want to go on a trip, but don’t know where to start? People always ask me how I plan all my vacations. What I use to book, how to find things to do, places to see and stay? So here is a guide to help turn you in the right direction. Even though planning a trip can seem a little overwhelming it is one of my favorite things to do. So just enjoy and have fun with it!!
Obviously the first thing you have to decide is where to go. Your bucketlist is always a really good place to help you start, or maybe you just want to be spontaneous and pick a random place! Either way after you have something in mind, the next thing you will want to do is to do a quick google search and find out when is the best time to go. Also, be sure to look at passport, visa, and vaccination information.
Things to Do
The next thing I like to do is look up everything that is available to do. Good sites to use are tripadvisor, pinterest, and viator.com. By finding some things you would like to do helps narrow down the exact area you would like to stay in. By looking this stuff up ahead of time can help you decide if you would like to book an activity before you go or not. Some excursions are only offered during certain days of the week, so it is important to get that information early so you can plan better. By planning ahead you won’t miss something you really want to do! My recommendation is to book one or two things you really want to do, but still leave yourself some free time in case you come across more options once you get there. Locals can also help point you in the right direction.
Things to Eat
The next thing to look up is the food! You can find some really unique restaurants to check out or a dinner show to see. They might have something fun and new to try or maybe its just a restaurant with an awesome view!! Just like I said with the things to do leave some meals open for something you might see while your exploring or ask the locals!
Places to stay
There are so many options that you can find when looking for places to stay. If you want a hotel you can look almost anywhere and just compare prices. You may be looking for something a little more unique, or maybe you just want to go super cheap. Some great places to look are booking.com Airbnb, Reserveamerica, and Hostelworld. Some travel sites also give rewards to use towards your next purchase. Look around and see what will work best for you!
As you know there are hundreds of ways to get from place to place. When traveling I personally have rented cars, taken UBER or taxis, or used a transfer service. Each situation requires something different. My biggest advice here is to have this all figured out before your trip, and reserve whatever you might need if possible. It will be really disappointing if you miss something you really want to do because you didn’t have the proper transportation set up.
Travel Insurance is the one thing that seems like such a waste of money, but in a situation where you need it you will wish you had it. You can check to see if your regular health insurance covers costs. Sometimes they will for a certain amount of time. When booking trips it is usually an option during the booking. Please make sure to read the fine print. If additional insurance coverage is needed. You can check out worldnomads
Last but Not Least
The most important thing to do is have fun with it. Try new things and look at all your options. Give yourself enough time to plan everything, and if you start to get overwhelmed take a break and come back a little later. Depending on the type of trip your planning on taking it can be a lot of work, but the end result is always worth it. If you have anymore questions feel free to comment below!
